Welcome to Quilting Weekly

Chris Dahl

Hello and welcome to Quilting Weekly, my name is Chris Dahl and I am your teacher and will be your guide here.  I will hold your hand and walk you through the door into the wonderful world of quilting.  At Quilting Weekly our classes and projects are designed to inspire you.  We want to create an environment that is welcoming and conducive to learning.  As a quilter myself I know that there is always something new to learn no matter how many years you have been quiltng.  There are always new techniques, new patterns or just a better way to accomplish the  things you already know how to do.

This site is more than a classroom, it is a community.  A community of quilters from around the world in all levels of quilting from beginners to advanced. As a community we will continue to grow and learn together.  Please join us as we learn new quilting skills, share personal stories and make lasting friends around the world.

Thanks for visiting,

Chris Dahl

A little bit more about Chris:

Chris Dahl lives in the Midwest state of Illinois, USA.. Has been married for 22 years and has 3 children..  Sewing has been a passion of Chris’ since she was a child in her first sewing class ☺

Here is a description of Chris’s Quilting skills,  knowledge and tutoring experience in her own words:-

Some of the techniques and styles of quilting I have worked with include: Hand piecing, paper piecing and machine piecing. I have done needle turn, and raw edge appliqué. I have done machine quilting on domestic machines, and mid arm machines. I also enjoy hand quilting with or without a hoop (known as lap quilting). I like working with traditional patterns, and especially enjoy designing my own patterns. Most recently I have been exploring surface embellishments.

I have taught many classes over the years. I have worked with students as young as 7 though adults. There have been large groups, small groups and private lessons taught by me. These classes have been taught at various locations, including quilt shops, schools, community centres, and private homes.  Although most of my skills are self-taught, I have attended many classes over the years, and will continue to do so. There is always more to learn, and I enjoy seeing how others approach quilting. There seems to be one common thread among quilters and that is to learn and to share what they know. I am no exception. This is what has brought me to start teaching, my desire to share what I know, and to learn from my students.
