Sluggo

sluggo

Let me introduce you to Mary (Sluggo) Janes Hoth.  I met Mary online through one of my social networks.  I posted a  want ad looking for teachers on this network, and before long I got an e-mail from someone named "Sluggo"  Well this did not sound much like a quilter, but I read her message anyway, and am I glad I did.

Mary who would prefer to be called Sluggo, is a firecracker of enthusiasm for quilting, and teaching.  After looking at pictures of her work, I knew I had to contact her.  We had a very long phone call where she shared more details about her life and work.  Sluggo is full of creative energy, and her lesson plans are extremely detailed with loads of great photos. She leaves nothing out, including both hand and machine quilting tips, binding, and how to hang your quilt!
Here is what she has to say about her self.

Mary Janes Hoth is a quiltmaker, writer, and graphic artist living in Valparaiso, Indiana. She comes from a long line of creative quilters and fabric artists whose generations of inspiration and example set the stage for her lifelong infatuation with piecework and quilting. She enjoys both standard traditional piecing and freewheeling with original designs, and when not overwhelmed with housework or a new project (which these days include album cover design for Kazoomzoom.com), can be found chatting up the Internet at Luxuriamusic.com. Hobbies include miniatures and dollhouse construction, collage and painting, crochet, genealogy, collecting vintage kitchenware, and generally making a huge mess in her studio. She is married and the mother of two daughters, both of whom she hopes will one day follow in her footsteps and carry on the family quiltmaking tradition.
